Editorial standards

We describe our method so a reader can check our work. These are the rules every item on this site is held to.

Sourcing

Every figure about a company (a price, a delivery term, a guarantee, a format, a date) comes from that company's own published page or a public filing, is quoted as published, and carries an access date. If we cannot find a primary source, we omit the figure rather than estimate it. Analyst and third-party figures, when used, are labeled as such.

We report; we do not endorse

MBK Media Group does not publish reviews, rankings, awards, or recommendations of vendors, and it does not use superlatives about companies in editorial copy. A data table may state which figure in that table is the lowest or highest; prose does not crown anyone. Companies mentioned in a story are not paid for coverage. If a company ever pays for placement, that placement is labeled sponsored content and kept out of the news, explainer and feature sections.

Every outbound link on this site carries rel="nofollow" as a matter of policy, without exception and without regard to who the company is. Links exist so a reader can check the source, not to confer anything on the destination.

Corrections

When a published figure changes or we got something wrong, we correct the item, add a dated note at the bottom of it, and log the change on the corrections page. Anyone can report a correction from the contact page; a company reporting a change to its own published price or term should include the page URL.

Trademarks and names

Company and product names are the property of their owners and are used for identification in reporting. Where a mark is customarily shown, we show it (Xactimate®, XactAnalysis®, Symbility®).

Drafting

Drafts may be prepared with software assistance. Every published item is edited and checked by a person against the cited sources before it goes live. The newsdesk is responsible for the content regardless of how a draft was prepared.

Why we describe method, not status

We do not attach adjectives to ourselves. Whether the method above earns a reader's trust is a conclusion for the reader to draw; we describe the method and invite you to check it against any item on the site.
